2.8 Early Support |
Bromley Early Support is part of a National award winning programme delivering coordinated family focused services to parents of children with more significant additional needs and disabilities from birth to five as soon as the child is identified as needing additional help. The service is based at the Phoenix Children's Resource Centre. Support might come from a number of areas: Health, Children and Young People Services (Education and Children's Social Care), or the Voluntary Sector.
Bromley Early Support promotes better initial and early joint assessment of need, coordination of multi-agency support, key working, and improved information and access for families.
Bromley Early Support Pre-School Panel meets fortnightly during term time at the Phoenix Centre to receive referrals and to coordinate provision and support in Bromley for children with more significant additional needs and disabilities from birth to five years of age. To ensure that appropriate early intervention services are in place the team at the Phoenix also work with and support these children within mainstream settings and at home, offering consultancy and advice on services available to all families of children referred to the Panel.
Bromley Early Support Full Programme offers families of pre-school children with complex needs and disabilities an initial Joint Assessment, a keyworker and multi-agency meetings to coordinate support, and a Family Service Plan summarising the needs of the disabled child and family.
Referrals to Bromley Early Support can be made by parents or any professionals working with the child and family, through the Early Support Pre-School Panel.
A CAF assessment is not normally required if another multi-agency Bromley specialist referral has been or will be made, such as to Bromley Early Support. Bromley Early Support's threshold is significantly above the CAF threshold. A CAF assessment may be indicated however if a professional has concerns with regard to siblings. For more information or advice on the CAF, please contact the CAF Advice and Support Team on 020 8461-7174.
